I sit skyclad under the Moon, thinking of the Dark Sun that is actually around the planet.  As I wait for confirmation from the Goddess I hear the gremlins beneath the earth rustling around like tumble-weeds.  The Tarot told me this would be the night.  I grasp the amulet dangling from my neck and breathe deeply.  It is time for the adept to take his name.  My name, of course, is already written in the Akashic records.  I have no altar here in this Circle as I am totally relying upon the Earth Mother's guidance.  I draw an ankh in the dirt.  I recite the Pagan Seax-Wica Psalm in my head...

"Ever as I pass through the ways

Do I feel the presence of the Gods.

I know that in aught I do

They are with me

And I with Them,

Forever.

No evil shall be entertained,

For Purity is the dweller

Within me and about me.

For good do I strive

And for good do I live.

Love unto all things.

So be it. Forever."

I suddenly feel the power of what I seek: Wicca Power.  The wind whispers to me and I strain to hear it.  My candle flickers.  In the wind is a voice beginning to get clearer.  It speaks to me.  It says,

In a past life you were once Astarte.

Recognize yourself.

In a past life you were once Ariel.

Recognize yourself.

You now bring these two lives together.

The magick is strong in you.

Recognize yourself.

Take your name!

A power comes up from the Earth and into my mind.  The name immediately comes clear.  I raise my athame into the air before me.  I want to scream it out but the strength of it is too great.  I can only whisper it into the wind.  At last I say,

"Astariel."

It is done.

I vow to be know from this time forward as my new name.

I will not fear being known.

I dedicate myself to Wicca Power.
